Bavaria travel

I'm planning to go from Munich to Fussen on June 17 (Sunday). Some travelers have advised that the 8:40 train might be cancelled due to repairs on the tracks. How can I be sure that the train is going to run at that time. If not, what's the alternative. Thanks, Jay

The DB site www.bahn.com always shows the actual schedule for your desired date. For june 17 it doesn't indicate any cancellations. The DB construction site monitor shows several days with limited traffic in may, none for june. I'd check again around June, 10.
Buy your ticket from a vending machine on the spot (Bayern Ticket, €25/1, €31/2). The prices shown on the Raileurope site are ridiculously high.

Likewise, the MVV website shows that train, RE 57398, the Neuschwanstein Express, running normally on June 17.

"might be cancelled"? *** Might*** be cancelled could be said of almost any train. Did they give any indication why it might be true of this specific train on this specific day?

Nice link, Paul. Shows just how bad RailEurope is. They want $40 each way for a ticket plus $7.95 shipping and handling for $87.95 total.

The walkup, full fare, price in Germany is 28,40€ each way or 56,80€ ($68), and those tickets don't cover the bus from Füssen to Hohenschwangau. There is absolutely no advantage to a full fare ticket unless you want to leave earlier than 8:00, and certainly no advantage to advance purchase. For use after 9 on workdays or anytime on weekend days, buy a Bayern-Ticket at the station for 25€ ($30). It covers round trip for both the train and the bus.

June 17 is a Sunday, so the Bayern Ticket is good to start anytime in the morning. No need to wait until 9 am.
