Bavaria Tour - your Best Recommendations :)

As my family trip is approaching (rather quickly!!), I would love to hear any and all of your most favorite things or must see/do/eat type places that I won't find by reading the "top 10's" per city over on TripAdvisor.

We are traveling June 13 - June 27 and our plan is as follows:

2 nights in Munich
6 nights in Oberammergau (with day trips to Garmisch, Mittenwald, etc)
1 night in Fussen
2 nights in Lindau
2 nights in Heidelberg
1 night in Darmstadt (flying home from Frankfurt - my son is at University in Darmstadt so that is why we are ending here)

Please let me know if any great places to eat, your favorite watering holes, special gems, or unusual finds. We plan to do a lot of hiking, biking, and just enjoying the surroundings of the small towns and German atmosphere...with a lot of German food and beer! haha

I would include a day trip to Füssen in the nights in Oberammergau (make it 7 nights, or maybe add the night to Munich). You should do Linderhof from Oberammergau; it's only about a 20 minute bus trip.

Lindau is beautiful.

In Oberammergau be certain to have some ice cream at Paradisios....best ever. If you havn't yet booked lodging the Hotel Wittlesbach was great...try to get a balcony room overlooking town.
Some say the Hoffbrauhouse is touristy, I say it's a lot of fun. I had pigs knuckle....best food I had in 12 days in Germany. WRT lodging, If I had Munich to do over again I'd stay somewhere in Old Town near the city hall.
WRT food, we enjoyed brat sandwiches from street vendors....quick, inexpensive and pleasant eating outside.

I agree with Lee (I'm a poet and I didn't know it), Lindau is lovely but I would skip it this time, unless you really can't pull away from it. Add a day each to Munich and Oberammergau.
My hodge podge. From Oberammergau, if you like hiking, there are many local, marked trails, long and short, of all difficulties. There's a nice walk from Oberammeragau to Ettal, a longer one to Linderhof. A bit further afield, hike the two main gorges around Garmisch and the one to the south of Mittenwald. A great hike to Schachen house and back will take up most the day. A cable car or hike up to a summer coaster ride just west of town. Do try and rent an apartment, you will appreciate the extra space. My wife and I usually have a long, lazy lunch when out and about, a small, easy supper back at the base. Every fourth night or so we may go out for supper.
Murnau is a prosperous little town, not frequently visited by non locals, has a pretty centre and lake, and nice flat walking on the moors. I presume you have a car, check our Landsberg am Lech, Andechs Monastery, Diessen, Benediktbeuern Monasterey and Bad Tolz to the north. If it pours one day, a lovely spa at Bad Worishofen. All the places I mentioned are fairly close by and worth a visit. Good luck.
