Hello! My husband and I will be going to Bavaria during last week of November and first week of December. What are some of your favorite towns/cities to stay and what are your favorite things to do? We are hoping to visit some Christmas markets and my husband enjoys reading/learning about WWII history.

Nuremberg would be a good choice for both interests. I would visit Rothenburg odT as a day trip and perhaps Bamberg.
Altho not in Bavaria, Salzburg, just across the border, in another good choice for the markets and as experiencing a differen country.

At the end of november 2026 = christmas market at Castle St. Emmeran (found this information = 20. November 2026 until 23. Dezember 2026, sunday 22. November 2026 (Totensonntag) closed) And it‘s not free.
St. Emmeran Church and the Cathedral St. Peter
Steinernde Brucke (bridge) and a visit to the Wurstkuchl (bavarian food, history)
