Bavaria in winter

Hi

I'm thinking of going to the Bavarian area either late November or early December.

The plan is to fly into Munich and stay 4 nights with day trips out to different area... I have down limited research at this point but the places that seem to be repeated are fussen, Nuremberg and Berchtesgaden.
Also happy to explore some Christmas markets.

Then get the train to either Salzburg or Innsbruck for 2 days to fly home from.

Any recommendations or tips for the above? Especially around Innsbruck or Salzburg to stay in!

Thanks!

Well that's peak Christmas market timing , so I hope you have you hotels reserved? Berchtesgaden and Fussen are a pass at that time of year, you need clear days to make anything form those locations. And Salzburg/Innsbruck are nice enough, but you're not flying home from either of those. I suggest looking at last years postings and narrowing down some specifics.

Instead of staying in Innsbruck you could consider staying in the Stubaital in Meiders by bus (@30 mins) or Fulpmes with the Stubaitalbahn (@ 55mins).

We did the Christmas market in Munich which was nice, and one day took the train to Salzburg and did their Christmas market. It was very pretty. I would consider Garmisch and Mittenwald, as both are very charming.
