Bavaria in winter

Hi

I'm thinking of going to the Bavarian area either late November or early December.

The plan is to fly into Munich and stay 4 nights with day trips out to different area... I have down limited research at this point but the places that seem to be repeated are fussen, Nuremberg and Berchtesgaden.
Also happy to explore some Christmas markets.

Then get the train to either Salzburg or Innsbruck for 2 days to fly home from.

Any recommendations or tips for the above? Especially around Innsbruck or Salzburg to stay in!

Thanks!

late November and very early december is often dark and miserable during the day and best seen after the christmas lights are switched on mid afternoon.. Very little chance of any snow before mid December at any reachable altitude.

I think you need a better map. Stay in Munich to visit Berchtesgaden on a day trip then move to Salzburg??? Berchtesgaden is almost a suburb of Salzburg and where the BGL locals go for bigger city shopping.

Presumably Füssen is for Neuschwanstein Castle, which will be open 10 am-4 pm and it's one way of beating the peak season crowds. But tickets have to be bought for specific 30 minute tour times, that's 14 rooms in 30 minutes and then out to the gift shop. No bags allowed in, no photography. Having read that far I decided not to bother. In good weather there is obviously the outdoor space and views - but I wouldn't bet on that for your dates. Similar rules for other castles in Bavarian state group.

Sorry to be so negative but at the moment I can't see a way to liven things up.
