bamberg parking and hotels

we have three days left of our vacation and wanted to spend it in bamberg with maybe a day trip to nuremberg or regensberg. i am looking for a hotel with atmosphere first and easy/free parking second.

itineraries would also be very helpful as i’m tired of planning myself . thank you!

In 2018 we spent 3 days in Bamberg and loved it. We hiked to different beer gardens on the hills— a beautiful city. We did not have a car but definitely stayed at an “experience” place— above a beer pub known for their “smoke beer”https://brauerei-spezial.de/zimmer/
We were not expecting luxury and our only complaint was no air conditioning (and it was really hot).
A fun place and great location but don’t expect any services of a hotel.

On our trip in 2017, we stayed at the Hotel Molitor. It has a great location in Altstadt and does have parking associated with it. It is pay parking, but what I remember is, that the doors to the parking were around the corner. When the doors opened, I drove the car into the large parking elevator which stored the cars until retrieved. I thought it was pretty cool at the time. Here is a linkHotel Molitor to their website, it’s in German, but you can go to Booking.com to see the information in English.
The location is great and is easy walking to all the sights.

We have stayed at the Molitor and the Hotel am Dom Bamberg. Both were very nice hotels, with helpful staffs and good breakfasts. Both had parking but we travel by train so I can not comment on that. Both were near the old town center.

Much of Bamberg has the street network of a much older age. There were many twisting one way streets. I assume a good GPS will get you to a hotel in the older part of town but it might take patience.
