As I mentioned in my other recent post, I know it would be a bit tight, but we're interested in seeing Veste Coburg and Bamberg in a single daytrip from Nuremberg. I see the Veste opens at 9:30 during the summer season, so I was thinking of leaving Nuremberg early to Coburg, then to Bamberg for the rest of the day after that.
I see that we can get as far as Lichtenfels with a VGN ticket, but there is also the Regio-Ticket Franken-Thüringen that should be valid along the entire Nuremberg/Bamberg/Coburg route, and slightly cheaper than a Bayern ticket (€28 vs €31 for 2). However, I'm having difficulty finding information about this ticket in English - is it similar to some of the other smaller region tickets in that it's not valid for transport within towns? We'll likely have a 7-day VGN day that will cover transport in Bamberg, but I'm not sure about transport from Coburg to the Veste itself.
