Is there a festival of some kind in Bamberg the weekend of 8/18-820? I seem to be having a hard time finding lodging for Saturday night.

where were you looking.? https://www.hrs.com/ have around 8 hotels within 1 mile of the centre still available for doubles and even more with singles.

I am looking for a family room for 4 people. My two children are 20 and 16.

that's a rare commodity but https://www.booking.com still has a couple of options (you need to ask for one room, three adults, one child) - they also show that combinations of 2 rooms may be cheaper.
