Baden-Württemberg ticket validity in Freiburg and surroundings

Hi there, I have a very specific question. I am travelling next week between Freiburg in Germany and Basel in Switzerland by train, and I'm thinking I might stop off in Staufen on the way.

Because Staufen is so tiny, it's not on the main Freiburg-Basel train line; it requires going Freiburg - Bad Krozingen - Staufen, then Staufen - Bad Krozingen - Basel.

Is the regional Baden-Württemberg ticket valid for this journey? I would assume it is, but because the stretch between Bad Krozingen and Staufen seems to be operated by "SWEG Südwestdeutsche" rather than Deutsche Bahn (maybe SWEG is part of DB, I don't know), the DB website doesn't automatically prompt you towards a regional ticket for this trip.

If I look at only going from Staufen to Basel, then it does prompt me towards the regional ticket, but not if I look at going Freiburg to Staufen.

Ideally I would like the regional ticket, as I'm not sure what time of day I'll be travelling (or if I'll be stopping off in Staufen at all), so I would like to keep the flexibility open if possible.

Thank you in advance!

The B-W ticket is valid for your route in both directions, but only after 9 am weekdays. Earlier departures will not show the B-W ticket as an option no matter the direction.
