Baden Baden - Great food stops and watchout

My husband and I just left Baden Baden after a three night stay.

It is well worth a stop if you have extra time in Germany. If you’ve had your fill of German food we highly recommend ‘La Gondola’ for outstanding Italian and ‘Vinami’ for great Vietnamese food. Ask for Stefano at La Gondola.

One watch out - we went to a local pub for a drink before dinner. The bartender’s English was good, but when we went to pay the bill, he added an extra 10 euros. My husband caught it and he claimed after the catch that ‘his English wasn’t very good’. We learned later of others who had this experience. I guess it should go without saying to check the details of your bill before paying.

Despite the bill slight, we loved this city and would highly recommend a visit.

May I ask where you traveled from and how you arrived in Baden Baden? I am looking to visit and am trying to determine the best way to get there.

Thank you.

Not sure of the OP, but Baden Baden is very accessible by train. It is on a main line between Karlsruhe and Basel, easily connected to from most of that part of Germany, Switzerland, and France.

Paul is exactly right. We took a train from Munich to Karlsruhe (about 3 hours), then transferred from Karlsruhe to Baden Baden (15 minute train). You can catch the 201 bus from the station to downtown or take a taxi if you prefer. We stayed at the Hotel Belle Epoque (about a 10 minute taxi ride from the station) and we would highly recommend it. It's easy walking distance to the downtown area, spas and casino. Have fun!
