I am planning a day trip to Hohenschwangau to visit Schloss Hohenschwangau and Schloss Neuschwanstein. I noticed the Hohenschwangau web site states backpacks are not allowed in the castles - only "small purses". The web site says some lockers are available near the TI. I planned on taking my backpack so I could pack a picnic lunch. Is the "no backpack" policy currently enforced? What do people do with their backpacks?

I know of no lockers near the TI. Perhaps these have been added since my last visit. I have been told by the people at the TI that you can leave your luggage behind the counter there.
The Hohenschwangau website used to say that there were Garderoben (check rooms) at the entrance to each castle. I notice the site no longer says that. Perhaps that is because they have added the lockets at the TI office.
There used to be lockers at the Bahnhof in Füssen, but they were taken out during reconstruction at the station. They might be back by now.
