Bacharach Tourist office closed Sunday

Hi Everyone
Maybe this is relevant for anyone travelling through Bacharach and hoping to store bags at the tourist office on a Sunday.:

RS Germany book says the tourist office stores luggage and is open until 2 on Sundays- I emailed them to confirm as I will be there on Sept 21, but they said they are closed Sunday.
Here is their response:
“Unfortunately, our office is closed on Sundays. Therefore, we cannot offer luggage storage at the Tourist Information Center.”

FYI the 20th is also a regional holiday.

TI offices in small towns often change their hours from season to season and year to year. Their lunch hours sometimes mean locked doors if staffing is low. Their offices move from building to building. The services they provide are changeable too. Guidebooks should not carry this kind of information or be relied upon for it if they do. You were wise to check in advance.

Bacharach's official TI page: closed Sundays and Holidays. Saturday 10-2 only... bags would have a LONG siesta in Bacharach if someone were to miss that 2 pm deadline! Info and contact page:

Koblenz, Mainz and Wiesbaden are currently the only stations in the Middle Rhine area with lockers AFAIK.

Thanks KGC - After two days in Bacharach (including St. Goar) I plan to spend two days in Cochem and 3 in Trier (including a day trip to Luxembourg). Would you know of any regional holidays in those areas during the Sept 23-27 week? I did some searches but didn't find anything.

Thanks Russ, I can't check into my Bacharach hotel until 3 so I was hoping to store bags but I guess I'll just have to lug them around for a couple hours. Not a big deal- I pack light. I like RS books compared to lonely planet and others, but I still learned the hard way to double check hours for small offices and businesses like laundromats as they can be inconsistent.

You can usually drop off your bags at your hotel and check in later. Send them an email and ask. No need to schlepp them around.

Did not understand that you had booked in Bacharach, or I'd have made the same suggestion as Jo. Just check with your innkeeper in advance for the OK to drop.

Hi Russ and Ms. Jo
Yes, I always drop my bags at a hotel when I get there early and then come back later to check in. After several hotels were full for my dates I went to booking.com and found this place, when I asked about leaving bags and checking in later they said no, It seems to be one of those private check in places - some kind of airbnb type place. Usually I avoid those, I'd rather have a real hotel or bnb.

So perhaps you could sightsee elsewhere for a couple of hours (Mainz? Koblenz? Whichever town is on your way to Bacharach.) Use a locker at that town's station and catch a later train to Bacharach.

Hi Russ
I’ll just leave Frankfurt a bit later. I decided to stay in Frankfurt an extra couple days as I want to do a day trip to Speyer to see the cathedral and sightsee a bit more in Frankfurt.
