Was planning to spend 2 nights in Nurnberg March 10-12.2019 and my current itinerary is somewhat inflexible to change travel plans. I must have looked at 20 hotels and each are booked those nights. Any suggestions for another town to stay in to do the sights of Nurnberg. Or any recommended hotels for that area in general so I can check their sites? We have 3 adults.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Are you planning to all stay in the same room or are you open to 2 rooms? Do you have a price range for either arrangement?
I have used Le Meridian and Loew's Merkur in Nuremburg for over 20 years; both as a tourist and for business. Both are an easy walk from the Bahnhof and the Taxi stands. FYI one of the best bars in town is the one in the Meridian.
On the main drag (Konigstrasse) there's the Maredo Steakhouse a block left on the right. It's good, and been there for many years. Just up from there is the BarstuBe, in the basement of the old Rathaus. It's got decent beer and bar food.
If you want to walk further (and if the weathers good I'd recommend it) go all the way to the Pegnitz River (another couple blocks) and cross the bridge. Ahead you'll see the main square. If you go left when you enter the square there's a Italian place called Provenza. It's good.
The walk along the Pegnitz is really nice and a good way to unwind. Enjoy your stay in one of my favorite cities.
I was going to suggest the place I stayed last summer but I just checked your dates and it's booked too. Can you stay in Bamberg or Regensberg - both lovely cities themselves and easy train ride to Nurnberg.
Check on the the medieval town of Bamberg, a charming UNESCO World Heritage site. It’s a 45 minute train ride from Nuremberg and is worth a visit.
Thank you, I would prefer 1 room but am willing to do 2 rooms if needed. Price range flexible
Booking.com list 104 properties (hotels and apartments) with a room for 3 adults on your dates.
One is this City Center Apartments offer.
Choose either a studio or one-bedroom, oath with a sofa bed for the third person.
Holiday Inn Express : Nuremberg City - Hauptbahnhof has a triple (double plus sofa bed) for €181.44 per night for both of your nights.
If you can't find a hotel there's no need to go all the way to Bamberg. Try Erlangen, Furth, or Schwabach. They share bus and trains every few minutes. Erlangen (14 km) is a college town, Furth (7 km) is middle class, Schwabach (10 kn) is a little more industrial.
The problem is that there's a major trade show in Nuremberg 8-11 MAR. I used to do this show, and I'd book hotels 6 months out.
We stayed at the Durer-hotel. Just checked, but it only had available rooms the 11th and 12th.
