We are doing the Munich-Vienna tour in 2019. Our plan is to arrive a day early and would like to stay at the same hotel. What is the best way to handle this?

I've done this on most Rick Steves tours. I email the hotel, telling them I am on the tour and want to stay in the same room for addition days. The hotel has always answered with an offer.

Emailing the hotel has always worked for us. Do it early, however; the tour hotels often fill up.
Also, you might want to move this thread to the Rick Steves Tours section; you'll get more relevant responses.

I just go to the hotel website and book there. If there is no vacancy showing on that website, I email.

We email them also, telling them we are wth the Rick Steve’s group. If you ask , they will usually give you the same room, so you won’t have to switch rooms. Also, we usually get a better rate emailing than what is on the website or other booking sites. Enjoy!
