Smart Traveler; City Maps 2 Go; City Mapper; Transit; Uber; Google Maps. And, of course, your airline app.
To add to the list above, DB Navigator (Deutsche Bahn app) and Google Translate. I hope you have a great trip!
For google maps, city maps 2 go, and other map apps - download the app as well as the maps of the cities and regions you will be visiting, that way you can view the map and your location offline.
For google translate, download German and any other language you might need, so you can get translations offline.
A QR code reader, if your phone camera doesn't automatically recognize those. I don't know about Germany, but in the US many restaurants I've been to recently put their menu online via a QR code so they don't have to sanitize menus. A covid safety thing.
Often museums or other sights have their own apps. Some are very good, some not especially useful. Art museums, for example, sometimes have tours and specialized maps on their app. If there's a major sight that is a top priority to you, look to see if they have an app and if it is useful.
Google Translate and XE, currency converter always go with me when I travel. Also Apps for whatever airlines you are flying on. If you don’t have an online account with the airline, create one.
I like the Free Now app (formerly My Taxi). It's a taxi hailing app for Europe. Think... Uber with taxis.
