Applying for Easy Pass (automatic gate entry) at Frankfurt Airport

In fall, I will fly from Montreal to Frankfurt, and then from Frankfurt to Salzburg, all on Lufthansa. I previously had the German EZ Pass (obtained at Berlin airport), which allows one to enter Germany using the automated gate using a passport with a chip. However, this passport expired and I have a new one. Therefore, I would like to apply for a new EZ Pass. The application office at Frankfurt Airport is in terminal 1, hall B, level 3, at stairs to the skyline train.

My transit time is 1 hour and 45 min. Will I be able to make this and not miss my connecting flight? According to today's arrival and departure info, the Montreal flight arrives at terminal 1 hall AB, and the Salzburg flight departs at terminal 1 hall A.

My last few experiences at Frankfurt were all negative. The staff was incompetent and rude, while the infrastructure (e.g., escalators and elevators) was broken at many places.

My guess would be not enough time. Do you make this trip or enter Germany often? I am assuming this time you will have to go through immigration as normal, then do the application process.

Thanks, Paul.

I don't go to Germany often. On average (pre-Covid), I fly in at most once per year. Not too bad, but sometimes immigration lines can get long. I fly to Zurich a lot, but unfortunately, there is no EasyPass for US citizens there.
