Apart/Hotel in Frankfurt Old Town Area?

Now that we have decided to spend our last 6 days of our Christmas Market trip in Frankfurt, we'll need to book accomodations. I'd prefer to stay in the central "old town" area, for aesthetic reasons and proximity to Christmas Markets.
BUT--I am also pulled towards staying near the Hauptbahnhof. (Main train station) This would make our arrival and day trips easier, and certainly our trip to the airport for our 10 am departure back to the U.S. Some of the reviews I've read have mentioned this area is a bit seedy at night, although not likely downright dangerous.

I haven't found any AirBnB's and there are several hotels in the central Old Town area, but we'd really prefer something with a small kitchenette.

Any suggestions or opinions?
Thanks in advance!
Edited to add: Ms Jo--thanks for your local perspective! I just noticed your list of hotels--I'll check them out!

Try Adina apts. which are about a 10 min. walk from the train station, as well as a 10 min. walk to the Christmas market.
That said, you can take the S-8 or S-9 straight from the central part of Frankfurt to the airport. So any of the hotels around there would be good too. I think there are a couple that are apt. like. I would have to look them up.

I stayed at the Adina that Jo mentioned. It really is in between the Hauptbanhoff and the old town.

Each room has a full kitchen. If you want a room with a washer/dryer then you have to reserve a one bedroom suite.

It's convenient to many of the sites and the Xams market.

Thanks--I have been looking at Adina, as we are staying in one of their properties in Nuremberg. They have a few locations in Frankfurt. I've booked this one:
Adina Apartment Hotel Frankfurt Westend
Osloer Strasse 3
Frankfurt Hessen 60327 Germany
Is this the location you were thinking about Ms Jo and Frank II?

Thank you for your advice!

No, that is not the location. This is the one:

Adina Frankfurt Neue Opera

The one you chose is on the other side of town.

I've also stayed at the Nuremberg Adina (twice). As recently as three months ago. It's a newer design. Good location. There is a new Edeka full size supermarket one block west of the hotel, one level underground and next to the Ubahn station. There is also a small organic market one block east of the hotel.

I was in Frankfurt and staying at the above mentioned Adina in 2023 just as the Christmas markets were opening.

May I also suggest you take the excellent Frankfurt on Foot walking tour. At that time of year, you will walk through many of the markets.

You can also try Residence Inn from Marriott. Location is great, right around the corner from the Hauptwache and the Christmas Market.

Thanks! Now we're debating between Adina and Marriott Residence Inn! 2 good choices, both locations are central and the price is about the same.

We really appreciate all the helpful advice and suggestions!
