Any tips to deal with tight connection in MUC, including EES?

I have a one hour connection in Munich for a flight to Milan.

I know it isn't possible to know how long it will take to get through EES, but are the EES kiosks in all the terminals?

My arrival flight from San Francisco and my departure flight to Milan are both in Terminal 2, so I figured the tight connection would be OK, but then the EES system was initiated.

Will I have to walk far to get to a kiosk (and then, I think, to a staffed desk after that?)?

Also, I think my luggage goes right on to Milan, but am I wrong about that? Do I have to get it and take it through EES?

I arrive at MUC the morning of August 27

Thanks very much

If Lufthansa promised an hour connection then they are obligated to get you to Milan. Note that you will most likely arrive at the T2 Satellite and then take the short underground train to T2. You will pass through immigration control somewhere along the way - just follow the signs to your departing gate number. Your luggage should be checked through to Milan - be sure to check the tag when you hand it over at SFO.

Actually, it's more likely that your flight from SFO (assuming it's UA metal) lands in T2
main and you then need to clear immigration/EES and take the train to T2 Satellite.
The train comes into one end of the satellite, so if by bad luck your connecting flight
is at the other end, you do have a bit of a walk.

Check when the next flight to Milan is after your original one, this will give you some
idea of what your backup options are. Don't forget that you can fly into either MXP
or LIN.

Your luggage, assuming it's checked to Milan, does not need to be claimed and
rechecked in Munich, it will be routed.

Thank you all for your replies. I decided just to rebook to a later flight, which cost some money, but is worth it for peace of mind.
