Airport Security Strike Expected Thur. 1 Feb.

Looks like the airports are going to be in chaos with the expected Germany wide strike, for security staff.

Friday the local transport in much of Germany will be striking and this affects buses, trams, U-bahns, though some buses may be running. In Rheinland Pfalz, this strike begins on Thurs. In Bavaria, there will not be a strike with the local transport.

when you add any tractors - the French are doing tractors now too - getting around is getting to be tough

Last week was tough getting to work and home again. My commute was about an hour each way instead of 10 min. A lot of people just do home office when there is a transport strike, but for those arriving or departing for vacations, it surely is not fun when the airports join the party.

Airports Hamburg, Bremen, Hannover, Köln, Düsseldorf; Leipzig, Dresden, Erfurt, Frankfurt/Main and Stuttgart will be affected.

Not Munich airport.

In my opinion for a 1-day airport strike "chaos" is an unnecessary exaggeration of people living in the 20% luxury part of our world.

Chaos in the airport, because it blocks flights in a domino effect for flights in other cities and countries. Everything has to be re-booked on flights that are probably already full. Where should they go? It is like if a train gets blocked for what ever reason. It affects train traffic for hours because they are all using that same track. It affects the trains going the other direction too, because that train that was supposed to be at a station, is now delayed from getting there and reversing.
I am low income, but I still fly about once a year. I use to fly to the US to see family once a year. Am I still in the 20% that would be affected if my flight doesn't take place?
