After Neuschwanstein

We are planning on spending 2 nights in Fussen. We have tickets to the 2 castles for the morning after our 1st night there. What would you recommend we do/see during the rest of the day? Explore Fussen or see other things in the area?

I really enjoyed the museum in Fussen. Fussen is one of my favorite places-and I would never have gone there if my daughter hadn't wanted to see Neuschwanstein!

Will you have a car? If so, you may want to make the short drive to Reutte, Austria. Walk the Highline Bridge and explore the ruins of Ehrenberg Castle.

You don't need a car to visit Ehrenberg castle, just a little advance planning. There is a bus (#4250) from Reutte to Reutte Abzw [junction] Ehrenberger Klause. Takes about 8 minutes, drops you off a few hundred yards from the path to Ehrenberg. Starting with the bus from Füssen, the one-way trip takes about an hour. The first bus leaves Füssen at 8:03, 11:13, 13:11, or 15:13. The return bus leaves Ehrenberg at 11:31, 13:32, 15:31, and 17:21.

The schedules are on the Verkehrsverbund Tirol website. Use Fuessen and Reutte Abzw Ehrenberger Klause as destinations.

Thanks for the ideas! Keep 'em coming!
We are thinking about having a car - we've actually rented one thinking that it might make it easier to see more things with the time we have in the Bavaria area - but are also considering just using public transport.

Our plan is to do the Tegelberg Gondola and either the luge there, or the one in Oberammagau (Sommerrodelbahn am Kolbensattel) after visiting the castle.

We visited Weiskirche, then drove to Lindor castle, which were both beautiful. Then we had dinner in Oberammergau, explored that area and drove back to Munich for the night train, which I don't think runs anymore as an aside.

April, did you mean Linderhof Castle or is there another castle in the area named Lindor?
