I will be travelling from Erfurt to Cologne by ICE on 12/22.
I am trying to make advance booking of the ICE train but it is not available for booking yet and the system says “date is outside of timetable period”
Does everyone know usually when can I start making the reservation?

There's a timetable update in early December, so tickets may not be available as far in advance as they usually are. The same thing happens in early June. I don't travel at that time of year, so I don't know when you can expect to see tickets available.
You should be able to purchase tickets around October 8th when the schedules are released.
Likely latest Oct. 16. (source).
Btw.: the prices for flex tariffs will increase by 5.9% in average from winter schedule on. According to Deutsche Bahn, the saver and super saver prices remain stable. It offers a certain number of these per journey. The starting prices for the timetable change will be 17.99 euros for Supersaver tickets and 21.99 euros for Supersaver tickets. Once the contingents have been used up, passengers will have to book the more expensive Flextickets. However, Deutsche Bahn points out that eight out of ten customers currently benefit from the saver tickets.
