Accommodations between Aachen and Bonn

Good day,
My husband and I are planning our trip for next fall.

I am looking for help on where to stay for one night between Aachen and Bonn.

We then plan to drive south along the west side of the Rhine River and spend the next night north of Koblenz.
Any advice on where to stay these two nights would be appreciated.
Best regards
Anne

I like Bad Neuenahr / Ahrweiler very much too, but it is actually beyond Bonn.

Do you know that it is only about one hour driving from Aachen to Bonn?

How far do you want to go before stopping?

Are you stopping in Aachen for the night before?

What sort of place do you want to stay in? City? Village? B&B type or hotel? Modern or classic? Price range? I know of (stayed once) a seriously weird place in Euskirchen but it will add 50% to your drive time or more.

How can we help best with this stop?

Thank you for your replies.
We are staying in Otterlo, Netherlands the night before. Driving to Arnhem to spend the morning at the Folk Museum and then make the 2 hour drive to Aachen.
i really would like to see the cathedral (a contrast to the Koln Cathedral we will have already visited at that point.)
So would like to find someplace, let's say, between Aachen and KERPEN to stay after leaving Aachen. i think we will need to stop before we reach the Rhine as we will be tired by that point. I usually try to find small villages or towns to stay like Spay south of Koblenz. With a car it makes it easier to find our way around and usually we can find parking near where we are staying.
Regarding the type of accommodation, I tend to look for smaller, often family run hotels like the Classic Hotel Harmonie or the Hotel Domsterm in Cologne. We do not spend time at the hotel. We will go out for a walk, have dinner nearby and breakfast the next morning. Hope that helps.
My husband wants to see the city of Bonn, the old Federal capital. So we would drive there and spend the rest of the morning and then proceed down the Rhine to spend the night north of Deutsches Eck.
The next day we are driving the Mosel to spend 3 days in Trier.

Thank you Nigel and Mark,
I think that Ahrweiler-Bad Neuenahr would work nicely. Google Map tells me that it is an hour drive from Aachen. So even if we stop to have dinner before the drive it looks like a good choice.
Ahrweiler-Bad Neuenahr is about 30 min from Bonn. So that is closer than staying between Aachen - Kempen.

If anyone has any other ideas or specifc places to stay that would be lovely?

Any suggestions about where to stay between Andernach and Koblenz?

I'm a little confused by your references to Kempen. That's back up by the Dutch border and it doesn't fit with your route. It would be backtracking. Do you mean Kerpen (r instead of m?) which is close to Köln?

Ahrweiler-Bad Neuenahr is one of my favourite little towns, and I will elaborate in the morning. It is bedtime here and I'll resume in the morning.

Overnight you could use the search facility here and search on Ahrweiler-Bad Neuenahr and you will find my previous discussions about it.

I'll talk about speed and the 7 mountains.....
