Hello - 3 adults traveling in Germany for a week in Oct. we plan to attend the Cannstatter volksfest and plan to spend one night. Any suggestions for a hotel near or easy train ride to the festival would be appreciated.

The Hilton Garden Inn is about 4 blocks from the main entrance... Be warned that the Volksfest gets as crowded as the Oktoberfest if the weather is nice on the weekends...

Note: you are looking for a hotel near Cannstatt, not Canstatter. In German the -er gets added when a proper name is used as an adjective, as in "Berliner Philharmonie" (Berlin Philharmonic) and "Hamburger Hafen" (Port of Hamburg.)

Russ- does that mean "Cannstatter Volksfest " in the body is correct but the title should be
"... near Cannstatt or..." ?

We have stayed a couple times at the City Hotel in Stuttgart. It is near the Charlottenplatz UBahn Station which is only a 9 minute ride to the Bad Cannstatt on the U1 or U2. They leave every 6-9 minutes during normal hours. There are several other hotels in that area of Stuttgart as well. I would say that it is preferable to stay in Bad Cannstatt but an option just in case.

You can research hotels near Charlottenplatz on HRS.com. Just set the "Distance to" to "Public Transport" -> Charlottenplatz. We find the public ratings on HRS to be compatible with our tastes.
