We are purchasing tickets to Bayern for two adults and my 10-year-old child. The app asks for the adults' names, but there is no place to enter my child's name. Since my child will travel for free, do I not need to enter their name?

Yes. The names of all travelers are required. There is no stated exception for children in the rules of use to my knowledge. Additional names for which space is not available go on the back of the ticket.

It's a bit complicated. (1) When booking, you have to specify that you are traveling with children between the ages of 6 and 14, e.g., number of travelers: 2 adults, 1 child. But then (2) only the names of the travelers who are actually paying are entered. Everyone has been wondering for years who came up with this idea, but nothing has changed.

But if you buy it from a ticket machine. you just make it for 2 people, then write the names in ink on the back of the ticket. No need to buy in advance.
