My husband and I will be arriving in Frankfurt in the morning (via flight) on Saturday, October 15th. We will be staying at an Airbnb for just one night. We must attend a reception at 6:00 p.m. at L'Angolo Restaurant. After checking in at our Airbnb, what do you recommend that we do during the day in Frankfurt until we must go to the reception? Is there some sort of transportation pass that would make sense for us to purchase so that we can hop on and hop off to various places for the day? Where would we purchase such a pass?
What time do you arrive in Frankfurt? What kind of interests do you have? Were you looking for museums to visit, historic buildings, markets, Jewish sites, medieval churches, or a tour?
There are multiple farmers markets on Sat. as well as the Klein Markt Halle, a couple dozen museums of a wide variety, the botanical gardens, one of the oldest churches in Germany, and many cultural Jewish sites.
Get a group day ticket. If you are coming into the city by train you will need the ticket that costs 15.80€. If you are coming in by taxi, once you get into Frankfurt, the day ticket costs 11 €. This is valid for both of you and on all forms of transportation.
Ms. Jo,
Your suggestions sound wonderful. We will be arriving by plane around 9:30 a.m. We must be at a reception at 6:00 p.m. (Check in at an Airbnb after landing.) We will getting our very first impression of Germany that day :-) The farmers market and botanical gardens sound especially great as well as your other suggestions. We will need a good place to eat a light lunch.
