A lame question about snail mail

One of my 'traditions' when I travel is to mail a postcard to ourselves. Now that I am back in the US, the only postcard we haven't gotten yet is one from Munich, Germany that I had mailed on 20 May. I was at the train station and dropped it in the "Andere Plz" slot in the mailbox. So I am wondering if a) did I actually place it wrongly, and b) if I did it right, does mail from Germany really take this long?

I've had mail to or from other countries take months, but Germany is usually pretty reliable in that respect. Letters or post cards to the U.S. usually take about a week.

And "Andere PLZ" means different ZIP code (from the one you are in), so if they offer two mailboxes, one of them would be for mail within town and one for mail going out. So, everything o.k., you placed it correctly, unless they had an additional third mailbox for international mail. I'm not really sure if those actually exist in Germany though.

I get correspondence from Germany and 2 weeks is the norm, so don't give up hope yet.

You will get your cards. Putting them in "Andere PLZ (Postleitzahlen, ie, zip codes) was correct. The mail will take five days on the average to two weeks or more, regardless of which slot the cards were dropped into. I've done both just to see the time it would take.

I send postcards from Germany just about every day to the States from my trip, cost 90 cents, much, much cheaper than sending them from Austria.
