A few hours in Wurzburg in the summer with teens...

Hi!
We will be arriving into Wuertzburg HBF on the train mid morning in late June and have about 2-3 hours to spend in Wurzburg with one teen and one tween daughter. I think I found a restaurant that looks good to us through Rick's book in the old town which we will try to eat in. However, what would you plan to see? We will be renting a car from HBF and leaving to drive to Regnitzlosau to visit family afterwards.

Thank you for the advice! I have never been to Wuertzburg before and would love a mini itinerary!

Well, if you have only 2 hours, then it's probably lunch and that's it, but it can be a nice lunch.

The train station is a bit of a stroll from the main business/tourist areas, so my guess is that
you're looking at a 10-15 minute walk.

If you can spare 3-4 hours all together, the obvious answer is to go see the Residenz.

We don't have time to see the Residenz as we need to meet family- I am wondering if there is anything on the town center that would be nice to see in addition to lunch- any churches or structures that we can walk to and admire from outside? How far is the bridge from the town square? Would it make sense to walk to lunch in the town center and then walk to the bridge and back? We want to stretch our legs and at least get a small glimpse of the city. Thank you!

It's about a 15 minute walk to the main square and St Mary's church. Another 7 or 8 minutes to St Killian's Cathedral. Then the same amount of time to the old bridge (photo opportunities of the bridge itself and Marienberg Fortress).

Train station directly to the old bridge, 20 -25 minutes.

The Residenz garden is also a very good option to stretch your legs and is (still?) free to enter.
