A few hours in Frankfurt

Some colleagues and I will be in Frankfurt for morning meetings, and will have about 3 hours to spend in the late afternoon before heading to the airport.

What would be the best way to spend 3 hours in Frankfurt, including some German food? Any specific restaurant recommendations?

Our meetings are about 15 km north of the river, but we'll be going south to the airport, so really we can stop anywhere, but on the west side of the city might be easier. Really, we just don't want to waste 3 hours sitting at the airport when we might find a good meal or stroll somewhere!

When will you be here? Tons of festivals this time of year, plus some nice farmers markets.

We will be here June 24th, which is a Monday (not the best likely for visiting or markets, unfortunately!). Really just looking to take advantage of the free time while I have to be in town for work.

I should say, though, that I myself will be in town most of Sunday June 23rd, as well!

I think the old town center is very scenic and a short tram ride from the train station.

You could wander the city on your own - and there is lots to see, including the new Altstadt - or you could have somebody show you all there is to see. Frankfurt On Foot do excellent walking tours https://www.frankfurtonfoot.com/ in the morning, Sunday too, or you could organise a small group tour when all of you will be passing through on the Monday. Frankfurt On Foot also work with airport layovers so are very experienced at getting you to the airport on time. I've loved being shown around. They know where the good food is too. sounds like an ad - nope, just somebody who has learned a lot.
