We plan on driving to Berchtesgaden to see the Eagle's Nest. All I am seeing is "tour" pricing, where they bus you in from various cities, and they all have specific time periods that they will stay on the mountain top.
Will we be able to buy just tickets for the bus and admission (if there is any) and be able to stay up there as long as we want?

You don’t have to book an official tour, though some say you get more out of your visit with a tour.
If driving, enter Salzbergstraße 45, 83471 Berchtesgaden into your GPS. This is the address of the bus station for the bus ride of ten minutes or so up the final acsent. No parking any closer.
I don’t know when you plan on going but an early snow fall in October can close the road and, even if open, some of the hiking routes up there may be cordoned off.

Thank you, both! We are going next month. Yes, we do plan on visiting the documentation center and I have heard about the hotel, but am not sure if they let people visit if they are not staying there......
