Itinerary help-9 days in Heidelberg and Berlin?

Hi everyone,

We're traveling to Europe this August with our (will be then) 18 month old son. We'll have 9 nights total in Germany (this is firm, we'll be coming via train from Paris and flying to Copenhagen afterward). My husband was born in Heidelberg so we thought about spending 3 nights there, then going to spend 6 nights in Berlin, because everyone says it is amazing and because it's easy to fly from there to CPH. Any thoughts or suggestions on this? We're trying to break up the ride from Paris to Berlin pretty evenly but I don't want to be in a place significantly longer than it warrants, either. Lots of outdoors time in parks, walking, etc. will probably be necessary due to our son's age but I'm not sure that, of the small towns along the way to Berlin, that Heidelberg is the best choice.

Thanks!

Heidelberg itself you can see in one day. It is a great place to visit. You will probably need to consider what places near Heidelberg that you want to visit?

Berlin is great, don't miss the Pergamum Museum and Neues Museum.
