9-Euro Tickets in August

Planning on traveling from Frankfurt airport to Bacharach to Trier in August and was wondering about the 9-Euro tickets. I think they will work on the trains that head to our destinations (local regional trains) but not sure if trains get sold out or how things really work. Seems as if you download and get on. Can't be that simple can it? Tried to get price on DB train to Bacharach but unable to purchase via internet/fares not available so that also makes me go hmmm. Any advice or tips greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Since the 9 EUR ticket is only valid on regional trains, no worries, they never sell out. No seats available? Stand until one frees up.

As long as you take regional trains, S-Bahn, and city transportation, all those journeys are covered by the 9-Euro-Ticket. And, yes, it is really that easy to buy--just purchase either through the app (make sure it downloads into the app) or at a ticket machine when you arrive before you board your first train, and then just get on. They do not sell out.

The DB website and app is sometimes weird about showing which journeys are covered by the 9-Euro-Ticket, but with a very small number of exceptions (mostly around Berlin, so far as I know), as long as you are not on ICE-ECE-IC-EC-RJ or the FlixTrains, the 9-Euro-Ticket is valid (things can get a bit confusing if your train originates in Germany and ends in a different country, but that is not true for your case).
