7 Hours Munich

Hello -

We arrive at the airport in Munich at 6:00AM and have a 10-hour layover.

I want to have margin to stow our bags at the airport, then also time to retrieve/get through security for our exit flight, without anxiety. I will be traveling with a child. Please recommend how you would spend approximately 7 hours in Munich.

It will be our first visit to Munich and any information regarding the logistics, sites, places to eat, what to do at 6:00am, etc., are appreciated.

Thanks!

The airport sits outside of the city of Munich so you’ll spend valuable time commuting into and from Munich which is a wonderful city. The airport itself has activities and restaurants, including a great Biergarten. I would stay on the airport grounds and maximize my time there while still experiencing a piece of Germany. We had a few hours more than you do -- we stayed two nights -- and spent 3 hours on a personalized tour. Not sure it would be the exact right tour for you with a child, but Taff Simon of Dark History Tours did a marvelous job with the little time we had.

Perhaps you can take the train to the center, grab breakfast, meet up with your tour guide, wrap up the tour by lunch, have a traditional German meal for lunch, then whiz back to the airport.

Thanks for the replies.

If we decide to go into the city, what's open early? Where should we get breakfast?

For breakfast I’d recommend Airbräu at the airport. You can get a decent Bavarian breakfast there and once you are done there should be more ghinknoprn in the city to see.
