7 Day Southern Germany/Austria/Switzerland Itinerary

Hello friends! My sister and I just just got a great deal on round trip tickets to Munich in March. I know it will still be COLD, but you can't pass up a great deal. Looking for tips on our must sees! My sister speaks German fluently and has been a couple times before. Salzburg is on our list, and I would really love to make it into Switzerland and see the Matterhorn. We will have 7 full days to explore! Your advice is welcome!

We are both active 30 year olds who love to explore. Planning on traveling by train.

The area of Munich, Salzburg, lowlands of Switzerland in March should be not nearly as cold as North Dakota. Zermatt could get cold, or be surprisingly warm if you get sunny days there.
I'd suggest doing it this way.
Land in Munich and head to Salzburg. Use a Bayern ticket, costing 35 EUR total for the two of you. 2 nights in Salzburg.
Take the Railjet to Sargans Switzerland, and change to a train for the short trip to Chur. You can buy advance nonrefundable tickets 3 months in advance for a decent price. Spend 1 night in Chur.
Take the 11:26 Glacier Express train to Zermatt, arriving at 17:10. Spend 3 nights in Zermatt so you will have a good chance of seeing the Matterhorn.
You'e now spent 6 nights. Time to get back to Munich via Zurich. Leave at 9:37, arrive Munich at 17:35. stay 1 night in Munich and take the S-bahn to the airport in the morning for flight home.

That's a great itinerary that Sam provided you. As you can see, 7 days is not a lot of time to visit multiple destinations.
