7 day italy .munich trip

Taking my 2 older college kids to family wedding in Bissingen Germany

As flights from NY to Munich are super high, I was thinking of flying to Milan - and do the following: Does this sound like a reasonable itinerary? We have been to those cities already but seem to love them to see them again. I can drive as well but train may be easier I think. I can drive from Milan to Venice then train from Venice - Munich - or any other nice place to visit. I will need a car in Germany for wedding.

Saturday May 25- JFK to Milan

Sunday May 26 – Milan

Monday May 27 –

Tuesday May 28 – Venice

Wednesday May 29 Venice

Thursday May 30 Munich

Friday May 31 Munich

Saturday June 1 – Wedding

Sunday June 2 – Frankfort to JFK (as Munich too expensive)

Have you looked at multi-city airfares, or are you just pricing two one way fares?

Looks doable.

Largest German rail operator is Deutsche Bahn.
Largest rental car providers in Germany: Sixt, Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Enterprise. I prefer Sixt or Europcar.

Funny side story: Berlin has a district named Wedding.

Go to Venice on the Monday. No need for a car - take the high speed train. Its faster, probably cheaper, and you don't have to deal with pick up, drop off, gas, tolls, and speed cameras. Lots of day trip possibilities while you're in Venice if you run out of things to do.

Re flying home the day after the wedding. Consider that it's about a 3 hour drive to the Frankfurt airport, and you need to be there more than 3 hours before your flight (plus you need to drop the car). What time would your flight be? Of course it's doable, but will you have to be up before the butt crack of dawn after partying the night before?
