6 Hour Layover in FRA

Hello! I need some advice to see if this is doable. My husband & I will be traveling from DFW to DBV (22 April) with a 6 hour layover in FRA. We are scheduled to arrive at 8:55 am and would love to take the train from Terminal 1 into Old Town for a couple of hours to look around and get some lunch. We're planning to get back to the airport by 1:00 for our 3:15 pm flight. Is it worth the risk of leaving the aiport & having to get back through security?

Sure. Lots of people do this. Take S-8 or S-9 from the regional train station under terminal 1, to the Hauptwache. This is the 6th stop. From there, it is a 5 min. walk to the Old Town/Römerberg/Cathedral. Get a group, all day ticket and write your names on it. The ticket machines switch to English. They are the turquoise colored machines. Cost is 22.50€. There is a train every 15 min. and it will take you 16 min. The trains leave from track 1.
If you have a carry-on, there is luggage storage at the airport that is secure and safe.

Thank you Ms. Jo. I was concerned because of the rollout of the new EES program.

"From 1 April all travelers from third countries arriving at German airports will have their fingerprints and facial image captured in a central database. Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich have finished installing hundreds of self-service kiosks, but airport operators concede that the learning curve will mean longer processing times."
