50th Birthday in Berlin

Hello folks

My partner and i will arrive in Berlin 3rd August from Bamberg, after already having 2 weeks in Munich/Salzburg area. We have 6 days in Berlin before heading home too UK via few nights in Brussels. The 5th of August is my 50th birthday, any suggestions on how to spend this day, something that will be fun and memorable ? The evening, we like beer and hearty food (noir so much wine and fine dining), any suggestions for best beer garden in Berlin ?

Thanks in advance

Hi Paul, The Prater Garten was near my hotel and it looked good. We were booked the evenings and didn't got there, but it looked promising. Maybe you can check it out.

And I just found this article on the top ten bier gartens in Berlin and Prater made the list. It is evidently the oldest.

definitely go to prater garden
make sure you have the veal schnitzel. my wife and I have been to Germany over 10 times and the schnitzel at Prater is far and away the best Ive ever tasted.
the ambiance there is great.... open air seating and also a nice inside dining area.

its a must!

forgot to mention: if you ever watch anthony bourdain "no reservations" wait for the Berlin segment and check out the places to eat there. Prater garden is included.
