5 night in Berlin: stay same place or move ?

Hi !

we (family of 4 ) will be in Berlin in july. We made a reservation for an appartment fot the 5 nights. Our appartment is on Claudiusstrasse neat Belevue s-bahn. Should we stay there for the 5 nights our should we stay there for 3 nights and find another lodging in another part of the town for the two others night ?

Stay the same place would made us avoid to carry all ouir lufggage in town. Change place would give us another perspectrive of the city and maybe we could find something a bit upscaled since it will be only for 2 nights.

By the way how good (or bad) is the location of our appartment ? We dont have a precise itinerary, It's our first time in Berlin so usual tourist with 2 young kids stuff !

Thanks !

Hi,

I would say stay. The S-Bahn station Bellevue is on the same lateral route going to Potsdam in the west and to Berlin Hbf, Bahnhof Friedrichstrasse, Berlin Ostbahnhof and Berlin-Köpenick in the east. Bellevue is a good location. I've never stayed in that area, only visited the Schloss (what you are permitted to see). Changing isn't a bad idea either to get another perspective in another district. Which one did you have in mind? Logistically, you get the move done in less than two hours. When I stay in Berlin for a week or two, I stay at the same Pension the whole time.

Why move? You can get anywhere in Berlin from the Bellevue station.

I stayed in a Motel One in Bellevue and found the neighborhood to be quite nice. Easy access to the rest of the city by S-bahn. Why move? You can get a different view of the city all day and evening. For me, hotels are for sleeping, not for getting perspectives on a city. With a family, there is no way I would consider schlepping my stuff cross town unless I had a good reason.

Thanks for those answers !

Knowing that our appartement is in a good location is reassuring. Since our appartment (like the vast majority) doesn't have A/C I though that we could move for 2 nights and enjoy a/c a bit in the heat of july. We couldn't pass on the appart since the review and the price where great.

Hi,

You might just get that July heat in Berlin, maybe rain too. But if it's the heat, there is also air current. In typical old traditional Berlin songs, that's referred to as the famous "Berliner Luft"

Berlin can be surprisingly hot or surprisingly mild in July. Roll the dice and see which conditions you get...
