5 days in Munich and Alps. 9/8-13

Please offer suggestions or insights. Energetic couple in our 50s. Thinking 2 nights in Munich then renting a car and driving around the Alps for 3 days. Maybe stay in towns along the way. Want to soak in culture, eat, drink, music, nightlife. Not necessarily touristy stuff. I know it is an aggressive plan for the time frame.

Another poster was looking for info on Almabtrieb dates in September. You might be interested, too. This refers to events where cattle or sheep are brought down from the high alpine meadows in preparation for winter. The cattle wear special traditional decorations and a festival atmosphere prevails. Good timing for your trip.

Thanks Debbie. That does look like a great way to experience the culture with the locals. I am definitely interested will do some more research and see how I can work it into my itinerary.
