Is there enough to do near Mittenwald to spend four nights there?
Hi Jeri, we were in Mittenwald for two nights and felt like it was enough time for us. Depending on how much hiking you would like to do, and if you were going over to the gorge, you would definitely want three days. By the way, we were traveling by train, so we weren’t exploring other daytrips from this locale.
We did some hikes, took the gondola up, went through the really nice violin museum and rode bikes while we were there. There’s a good Italian restaurant in Mittenwald, too.
Mittenwald has the Violin museum and nearby attractions are Garmisch,The Zugspitze,Oberammergau,Weiskirche,Ettal Monastery and Linderhoff.

Four nights is better spent elsewhere. Mittenwald one-two nights for dinner and town. See /walk to Lautersee and Ferschensee up past the falls. Take the Karwendelbahn (or wait for Garmish) up for the view. Relax with coffee and beer. Move on to Garmisch-Partenkirchen explore it and surrounding neighborhood, sights, easy walks surrounding the city and lifts to the peaks. With more time move on to Erhwald, Lemoos, Berwang AT for more scenic vistas, hiking/Skiing.
Thank you everyone!
