Hi, we're a group of 4 flying into Frankfurt and driving to Munich for Oktoberfest. We planned to spend a few days in Munich-touring and Oktoberfest (my husband and I have been before), and then hopefully take a side trip by car. We'd like the drive to be part of the destination so we'll get to see sights, history, etc. along the way and stop as we see fit. We're open to suggestions but would like to keep the drive to a max of about 5 hours. We will also have to return to Frankfurt to depart Germany. We've looked at possibly Austria (not sure where), Switzerland (not sure where), but are open to any and all suggestions. We'd really like to see some off the beaten path and authentic sights. Any information or recommendations for destinations, routes and stops would be greatly appreciated!
