4 -5 days to see Munich and the country side

We will be visiting Munich in July 2019 for 4-5 days prior to a river cruise . In addition to seeing the city of Munich we want to see Neuschwanstein, Hohenschwangau, Linderhof castles and Nymphenburg palace, Berchtesgarden and eagles nest. Do you think it's do-able in 4 days? Should we use Munich as a base camp for all of these day trips or is there another town ( perhaps Fussen) that would be a better base camp for the day trips... if we can eliminate the 2-3 hour travel time there and back each day that would be great.
We prefer to take a guided tour of all of these sites vs. doing it on our own, not confident putting all the steps together for each location ( transportation, tickets, logistics). Just don't know the most efficient and enjoyable way to approach this part of the trip so we can see the beauty of the area without spending tons of windshield time getting there and returning to the town we stay in. We
are open to suggestions for how to make the most of these 4-5 days

Seems like a lot of driving for 4-5 days to see all the palaces and sites you mentioned. Wife & I were enjoyed Fussen for an afternoon of shopping & lunch, and launching point to nearby Neuschwanstein/Hohenschwangau. I'm happy we saw both palaces from the outside (didn't take the tours), but was really turned-off by the crowds during the day. At night when the crowds cleared out, the place was magical.

However logistically speaking I'd consider another approach:

  • Stay in Munich 3 days & take day trips to Neuschwanstein/Hohenschwangau, and Linderhof. You can also visit Nymphenburg within Munich.
  • Take train down to Salzburg for 3 days & check out Berchtesgarden.

Munich & Salzburg are ideal places to set up, and if there's an art or music festival that pops up in either location, then scrap the day trips and take in the culture in two truly amazing cities.
