Looking for suggested itinerary for 3 days in July starting by train from Amsterdam to any city in Germany then working my way back to Amsterdam for flight home. Thank you!
Where else will you be prior to these 3 days?
Budapest. I could start in Budapest as well and work back to Amsterdam. Mostly interested in Germany as have been nowhere there.
I have not been to Germany so can offer no advice on 'where to go what to see'.
The practicality of the logistics suggest to go to where ever in Germany you decide and end in Amsterdam. Going to Amsterdam and then to Germany and back makes for a lot of useless backtracking.
ok.... thanks for playing, joe....
anyone else actually have idea or suggestions on where to go?
With only 3 days I would not travel too far and there is much to see in North & West Germany. I have no idea what appeals to you. There is the great cathedral in Köln, which is a bit north of the scenic Middle Rhine. Marburg is a beautiful university city not too far from the Rhine. Something in that direction would be my choice.
I would fly from Budapest to Frankfurt and spend your time heading up the Rhine river and on to Amsterdam. There are lot of great stops on the river such as Bacharach and St. Goar.
We loved visiting Berlin, but train trip would be 6+ hours. Anyway you could get on a cheap flight from Amsterdam to Berlin?
