3 days in Rhine valley, with a toddler - suggestions please

Hi,

I am planning to visit Rhine valley in end of May along with my wife & 1 year toddler. Which is the best place to stay as base & travel around...St. Goar, Boppard or other towns? I prefer staying bit away from the city center, may be in a farm setting or quiet place. But not too far, as I don't have a car. Read about cruise trips, do they allow baby strollers? Any information would be of great help.

Thank you,
Manju

Boppard is a small town. St. Goar and Bacharach are maybe better described as villages. I would not think of any of them as having a city center. I liked St. Goar's Hotel am Markt best as it has good views of the river and its boat traffic from its restaurant (& breakfast room). Nice walks along the river from St. Goar with views of a few castles. Might interest your toddler.

There are hotels and guest houses outside the towns but I think they better service car owners.

We just took a day trip along this part of the Rhine in early May. I was remembering how much we enjoyed staying there a few years back.
