Hi! We start in Berlin in July & then travel to Leipzig & Dresden for a day...wanting to travel then to the Rhine Valley any recommendations for a stopping point in between or just a few hour stop to relax before the rest of the trip. We have a rental car.

If you are going toward Frankfurt/Mainz area, consider Erfurt. In fact, you could do Leipzig on your way to Erfurt and Frankfurt.
If you are going toward Cologne, then Hannover would be good.
