Does anyone know when the Dusseldorf Christmas Market and the Koln Christmas Markets begin? The google searches seem to have a few conflicting results. Not sure where to get the true dates?

The websites for each city should have them posted.
In big cities, most of them begin 4 weeks before Christmas, or just a few days before the 1st Advent Sunday.

Thank you for the websites. It seems like it is showing 2015 dates, so I don't think they have updated the information for 2016 yet. My friend is trying to decide when to book her flights and it will hinge on when the Christmas markets in Dusseldorf open. If they are open on Thursday, the 17th - she will fly out on the 16th. But if they don't open until Saturday the 19th - she will miss the market because they will have to move on by then to the next stop. Nothing seems to be giving definitive dates - does anyone know do the markets ALWAYS open on a Thursday? Therefore the 17th of November is a virtual certainty?

The first Advent this year is early 27 Nov 16. Many other Weihnachtsmarkt will open Friday 25 Nov 16. Some Weihnachtsmarkt in smaller towns will be open for only one-two Advent weekends.
