Any suggestions for hotels or lounges in or very near these airports while we are on layover both coming from and going home to US? We don't mind spending some moola to feel decent on our trip and on return. Thanks!!!!

The Hilton Frankfurt is right AT the airport ands sometimes offers good deals...you have to keep checking. I have a room there for under 100 Euros for this January.

It is so easy to get into town from these airports, particularly Frankfurt, where it's 11 minutes by S-Bahn, that I see no reason, considering you have 20+ hours, to stay at the airport.

There is a Hilton at FRA & MUN both
No reason you can't stay at the airport for convenience but run into the city for dinner and look around

Why would you stay at the Frankfurt airport when you can stay in one of Germany's most historic cities? Have your choice of restaurants, wander the streets or along the river in the evening, then plop into bed without needing to take the train back to the airport that evening. When will you be here? There may be a fest on in the city center, one of the Farmers markets might be happening.
The Hilton in the city backs up on a 5km long park that surrounds the entire inner city. The Alte Oper is 5 min. away, the Eschenheimer Turm is 1 min. away, the Kaiserdom and river are about a 10 min. walk from the Hilton. You can catch your train back to the airport the next day at the Hauptwache. Trains run every 15 min. and from this station, take 15 min. to get to the airport.
