Hi, I have a flight from Manchester to Mumbai but I have a layover for only 2 hours in Frankfurt. I believe the layover is in Terminal 2. I know I'm way too late in this but some sources said I don't need a airport transit visa due to recent changes in the policy, for Indian passport holders but some sources says the opposite. I'm really confused and don't know what to do.
Any help is highly appreciated.
That is correct. You should not need an airport transit visa as long as you don't go through immigration. See this article for further details: https://www.visahq.com/news/2026-01-13/de/germany-grants-visa-free-airport-transit-to-indian-citizens/
That said, you might want to contact the airport directly just to be on the safe side.
Hey man sorry for sounding a bit agitated but are you sure?? This is like the third time I'm so stressed in life other than assignments, lol.
Well, no, I'm not absolutely sure of that because I don't control Frankfurt Airport. You might want to consider contacting your own embassy or possibly the German Embassy or even the airport itself to make sure of this.
Okay. Anyways thanks for the help man.
This is the transfer section of Frankfurt airport website, which should answer your questions.
You will (may) do EES at Franfurt if they are operating it. See the "border" section in the "transit" section
No, you will not do EES in Frankfurt, as to transfer from the UK to India you do not need to enter Germany. You stay in the
international transit area. So no immigration, and no passport control. And since you are coming from the UK you should normally not have to clear security again either, unless you are bussed in from a remote stand (which unfortunately happens a lot with flights from the UK in FRA).
So the previous poster is incorrect.
The 2 hours is definitely enough.

You should be able to answer your question there.
To everyone:
thank you guys so much for clearing this issue. I was stressing out a lot but thanks to all the responses, I feel less stressed now.
