2 days in Frankfurt - suggestions for hotel and sites?

Hi all,
We will be flying to Frankfurt June 1 staying for a few days then training to Munich on June 4th spending the night and training to Venice, Italy for a 7 day cruise. I'm looking for hotel suggestions for frankfurt and good castles/sites?

I've stayed twice at the Ibis Frankfurt Centrum, which is convenient for the Frankfurt train station - perhaps an 8 minute walk from it. Some rooms have a view of the river, though it will be quieter on a higher floor, above street traffic.

Check prices for your dates - if there happens to be a large convention in Frankfurt, prices will double or even triple. Otherwise, it's modestly priced.

Another chain, Motel One Romer is centrally located, but further from the train station.

Ibis Centrum - I also stayed twice. With Ibis you know what you're getting. If you want quiet, ask for a rear room - no view but no noise. As CW said, facing the river means being over a main street (trams are noisy and the begin running very early and go till very late).

You can day trip to Büdingen. Perhaps it's changed but 8 years ago it was delightfully untouristy. Very medieval feel and a castle too.

There's lots to see in Frankfurt - a short tram ride or a reasonable walk from the train station.

No trade fairs in Frankfurt on those dates.
Head out to the City Forest though for Waldchestag. Sort of a fair, but set in the forest.

Good budget hotels would be Motel One, Hamburger Hof, Hotel Monopol, Ibis on the Friedensbrücke.

On Tues. morning, I would head over to Frankfurt Höchst for their very nice Farmers Market and Market Hall - 7-13:00. Have lunch on the plaza in front of the Schloss, then at 14:00, go over to the Justinus Church, one of the oldest churches in Germany. Visit the garden behind the church too.
Visit the Klein Markt Halle in Frankfurt.

Museums to visit on Tues. or Wed. (most museums are closed on Mondays in Germany but may be open on 1 June as it is a holiday) would be the Judengasse Museum, the Städel, and the Karmeliter Cloister. The new Alt Stadt is worth a visit. Perhaps a visit to the Palmengarten. Burg Ronneburg is having its Pfingstin Tournament that weekend, but 1 June is the last day. Other close castles would be in Kronberg or head down the Rhine for the day.

Make sure you try the cider - Frankfurt is one of the few cities in Europe where it is the main drink instead of beer or wine.

We liked Fleming's Express -- just across the street that goes by the side of Hbf, great breakfasts, good price (and we were there during Christmas markets!) Great location for transit, price includes a Frankfurt transit pass
