2.5 Days in Munich Itinerary Ideas Needed

Hi All,

I will be traveling to Munich this spring for 2.5 days before heading to Prague. I will be with my brother and we are going to try and attend Spring Fest while there one day. Since we are only there for a short time we really want to try and pack our days as much as possible. If there are any must see locations, neighborhoods, museums please let me know! Also if you have any advice on Spring Fest and how to navigate it please let me know!

Thank you!

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the BMW Museum and BMW Welt. The site of the 1972 Olympics is across the street, with a nice park.

If you appreciate churches and architecture I suggest Asamkirche and Bürgersaalkirche, both not too far from Marienplatz.

Since you are going in spring, Nymphenburg Palace should be nice with the gardens.

One of my favorite things to do in Munich is walk through the English Garden and visit a Biergarten like Chinesischen Turm. I also enjoy the Biergarten in OlympiaPark.

If you are looking for a beer hall, Augustiner-Keller is less touristy and a better experience than Hofbräuhaus.

Spring Fest has become young and crowded. I've been several times but since COVID the crowds have increased and it is younger crowd than I've ever seen. We tried twice last spring to attend the afternoon/evening sessions, but both beer tents were filled to capacity. We finally got seats on a Sunday morning getting there an hour before they opened. Definitely not as much fun, but at least we got to see a parade march in. We're staying across the street this spring for a couple of days and hope to poke our heads in again. Must see for me are the Hirschgarten and the Augustiner Keller bier gardens. Both are on the Tram #17 line and are easy to visit after a trip to the Nymphenburg Palace. If you get to the Fest and can't get in, there is a great little beer garden called the Wirtshaus am Bavariapark just up the street near the Museum of Transport, which I found neat.

pack our days as much as possible

I'm a fan of starting with Rick's walking tour of a city if one is available (Munich has one). You get an overview of key sites and, as time and personal interest permit, you can either go inside a site or simply walk past.
