What part of Munich would you recommend staying-3 generations traveling ages 21-72 yrs old. Perhaps near English Garden?
Would like a quiet safe area to be able to walk to dinner @ night & get to transit during the day. We are renting a car so we don't need to be near train station.
If you will be having a car while you are in Munich, I think your first priority should be to find a hotel with parking.
I like the Eden Wolff on the Arnulfstrasse across the street from the RR station.
It's an excellent hotel, very goood breakfast, restaurant for lunch and/or dinner, friendly and efficient staff and an underground garage.
Occasionally people will refer to the area around the station as "seedy." I think that's more the case on the other side of the station, but not the area around the Eden Wolff.
I have stayed there many times and have never felt at all unsafe.
Our family loves the Hotel Am Viktualienmarkt, it is a block from the Marienplatz and the Viktualienmarkt. It can be a bit noisy at times but it is worth it for us due to its location and great staff.
