I posted this on Austria forum, too. Would this be feasible to leave Salzburg on a Sunday AM and train back to Munich to catch a flight home to USA by 1220 pm?

Yes. Leave Salzburg at 7:12 am, change to the S8 at Munich Ost, arrive Munich airport at 9:35. Cost is 23 euro using the Bayern ticket. Take the 8:12 to get there at 10:35 if you want to cut it close.

Is the Munich airport difficult or easy to find around? Will be arriving by train from Salzburg and then will catch a United flight from terminal 2 back to US on a Sunday AM in May.

When you get off the S-Bahn at the airport station, go up the stairs and Terminal 2 is straight ahead, across the open courtyard. Go in the front door and find the airline desk to check in.
